We are all familiar with the term “bullying”; it is no hidden fact that it has been happening and, unfortunately, growing. It is a disease that is affecting our children and negatively impacting their lives; some suffer silently, and others try to deal with it the same way, and the cycle continues. But what exactly is bullying? We first need to know the term and how it impacts our lives.
Bullying is when some people intentionally degrade, harass, or tease those who they think are less capable and powerful; they use words and acts against them and hurt them verbally or physically. As now times have changed, people are bullying online, commenting weird things about people, cursing, threatening them, and trying to pull the other person down, which is called cyberbullying.
It is a serious matter, and the victims of bullying are sometimes unable to bear things, which triggers them to commit stuff they shouldn’t. It is no joke to tease someone without knowing the consequences they both will have to suffer. The bully’s behavior could have resulted from something personal they go through, and they think of getting their frustration out by hurting others, which can’t be justified.
There should be more awareness of counseling for both the bully and the victim to put an end to this negative trait. Parents should be more responsible for guarding and protecting their children by spending more time with them and talking to them without imposing rules and strictness on them. They should allow them to be free and consider them to speak if they experience anything related to bullying. Our collective responsibility is to deal with such issues and have a safe place for everyone.
